Awards for Astoria Architectural Developments
CDoyle The Graffiti House project at 11-07 Welling Court in Astoria was among those honored at the recent Queens Chamber of Commerce Annual Building Awards Gala. Graffiti House received the Interior Design, mixed use, residential/commercial/industrial award and the Best Landscape Design award. The architect is Architects Studio and the builder is AKI Development. (Brett Harris, Managing Partner at AKI Development, and Aki Todic, Chairman of AKI GROUP, are also OANA Board members).
Graffiti House and its warm, eclectic design style were inspired by the surrounding street art of the Welling Court Mural Project, five blocks in Old Astoria where residents and businesses offer their walls as blank canvases for the c. 150 murals that make this little corner of our community a unique art treasure.
Mount Sinai Queens Pavilion on 30thAvenue in Astoria was the winner of the New Construction, healthcare related facility award. The owner is Mount Sinai Hospital/Queens Campus; the architect is NK Architects; and the builder is Skanska USA Building.
The L@31st Drive (23-36 31st Drive, Astoria) project was the winner of the New Construction, multi-family high-rise, four or more stories category. The owner is The L Group; the architect is Gerald J. Caliendo, and the builder is Showcase Design Corp. Gerald Caliendo was also the winner of an award for The Pavilion at Locust Manor.
The Building Awards Gala also honored Michael Viggiano, executive vice president for Skanska U.S. Civil Northeast Inc., who received the annual Honoree plaque.

She also holds a Graduate Diploma in Library and Information Studies as well as a B.A. in Archaeology and History from University Dublin, Ireland. Clare is the Vice President of Green Shores NYC, a non-profit group that advocates for a cleaner, greener and more connected waterfront in Astoria and Long Island City
