N Train Service Weekend Repairs This Summer

IMPORTANT TRANSPORTATION news for Astoria residents: “N” subway service will be suspended for several weekends this summer for much needed repairs. DNAInfo’s Jeanmarie Evelly reports that on the weekends of May 20-22, Memorial Day Weekend (May 27-30), June 3-5, August 12-14, August 19-21, August 26-28, Labor Day Weekend (September 2-5) and September 9-11, there will no N train service from Queensboro Plaza to Ditmars Boulevard. Free shuttle buses will run in both directions along 31st St. Work crews will repair switches and tracks along the N line, work that “will make service more reliable and help reduce train noise on 31st Street, which residents have complained about in the past.” Schoolchildren attending P.S. 85 have been particularly affected by the noise from the tracks, which it is hoped that the repair work will mitigate.
