September 5K Fun Run to Celebrate the Hellgate Bridge Centenary

Save the date for Saturday September 9: there will be a 5K run/walk along the Astoria waterfront. The run begins at 9 am at the Veterans’ Memorial on Shore Boulevard in Astoria Park, out of the park along Shore Blvd up 20th Avenue to 31stStreet, and then turning back and finishing next to the Hellgate Bridge.

The run celebrates the iconic bridge’s turning 100: several events have taken place or are being planned under the auspices of the Hellgate Centenary Committee (chaired by Astoria Civic Association President Tony Meloni ). OANA is strong supporter of Hellgate Centenary Committee and will keep you posted on any upcoming celebratory events.

All proceeds from the September Fun Run will go to the Hellgate Road Runners Club, which is a co-organizer of the event along with local newspaper the Astoria Post.  The run will be followed by a cleanup organized by the Astoria Park Alliance. Other sponsors of the event are Singlecut Beersmiths, Argo Real Estate, Trinity Lutheran Church, Bibswitch, Active Outlook Massage Therapy and Astoria Bier & Cheese.

Cost to register is $25 if you register by August 14, $30 if you register from August 15 to Race Day. There will also be a Kids’ 100m Dash at 8.30 am, free to kids under 11.
