The Rough Draft Festival is Moving Online

As New York City remains on PAUSE due to the COVID-19, many cultural institutions have been making performances available online to entertain us while we protect ourselves and others by remaining indoors. Now LaGuardia Community College’s Rough Draft Festival is moving online.

Dates have been announced for the first Rough Draft event. Packing and Cracking will be streamed online via LPC in Your Living Room, on Wednesday April 22nd at 7 pm, Friday April 24 at 7 pm, and Sunday April 26 at 3 pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here.

The show was created by Rachel Gita Karp and Joseph Amodei, directed by Rachel Gita Karp, and designed by Joseph Amodei. Packing and Cracking is an interactive mapmaking event about redistricting–and the widespread manipulation of redistricting known as gerrymandering–in the United States today. Consisting of participatory drawing and map-drawing games, Packing and Cracking uses critical cartography, historical accounts of the first gerrymanders, and interviews with people dealing with gerrymandering today to give an understanding of gerrymandering both in the mind and in the body.
